Advocacy and Awareness
Disability Awareness in local school
Our disability awareness training is designed to educate people on disability related issues and break down the barriers that exist to achieve a fully inclusive society.

The main messages in the training:
  • There is a large amount of discrimination towards the disabled in Cambodia
  • Disabled people aim to live an ordinary life, accessing the same opportunities and everyday experiences as anyone else
  • Physical barriers (and the attitudes associated with them) that prevent disabled people from feeling and being a part of the community can be overcome
  • If you are familiar with appropriate use of language and etiquette around disabled people, you can ensure everyone is at ease
Disability Awareness with local commune council We have delivered this training to government departments, local councils, secondary and staff from other community groups. We can tailor our training to meet the needs of their respective communities, and to fit in with the time they have available. Our basic training aims in to assist them in understanding disability and the rights of disabled people, as outlined by the law of people with disabilities that has been adapted by the Royal Government of Cambodia. The process of disability awareness education is both empowering and important. On an individual level, it is a process that provides access to different opportunities. Employment contributes significantly to both a person’s sense of self and wellbeing both financially and socially. Therefore, it is part of our social and political responsibility to ensure that people with a disability are fairly represented amongst those that are given educational and employment opportunities. Providing educational opportunities for children with a disability ensures that we encourage a substantial proportion of our population to fully participate in our community, ranging from enjoying the benefits of further employment to active participation in the governing of our society.
